SEVENDUST Keeping It Heavy On The Road

January 5, 2007

SEVENDUST guitarist John Connolly recently told HeraldTribune.com that he and his bandmates will be rocking harder than ever on their upcoming U.S. tour in support of their sixth studio album, "Alpha" (due March 6). "We're not going to have too many broken-down moments," explained the axeman. "We've been actually running a heavier set ever since [new guitarist] Sonny [Mayo] got in the band. The fans really seem to be reacting well to it."

Mayo joined SEVENDUST in early 2005 as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who joined his brother, bassist Corey Lowery (ex-STUCK MOJO),in a new band, DARK NEW DAY.

Lowery quit in December 2004 with a half-dozen shows remaining on a year-ending tour, leaving the group in the lurch.

"That's the only thing I think any of us were really that bitter about, because Clint going to play with his brother wasn't a surprise or anything at all," Connolly said. "I mean, I called it four years before it happened. But just the way that he did it, I could never leave the guys like that."

SEVENDUST's 57-date North American tour is scheduled to begin on February 8 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Support on the trek will come from DIECAST and LEGION.

SEVENDUST will release "Alpha" through its own label, 7 Bros. Records, which recently entered into a partnership with Asylum/Warner Music Group. The CD's first single, "Deathstar", is now streaming at the band's official web site, Sevendust.info.

Produced by Joe Miller, John Connolly, Morgan Rose and Shawn Grove, "Alpha" will be the group's first effort since 2005's "Next".

"Alpha" track listing:

SEVENDUST announced in April 2006 that they and 7Bros. Records had officially parted ways with the Universal-affiliated WineDark Records. The band inked a deal with WineDark in early 2005 after a lengthy stint with TVT Records.
